The MUST platform holds its annual steering committee
MUST, the Scientific Computing and Data Infrastructure of the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) and the CNRS, presented its results and prospects during its steering committee on April 10, 2024.
As a reminder, MUST can provide the latest generation GPU resources for Artificial Intelligence, high-performance computing resources and obviously all the storage you could need. These resources have already been essential for IDEFICS Artificial Intelligence support projects, including industrial partners, such as ADTP et Heliocity.
The MUST platform is also used as one of 150 processing site for the large volumes of data generated by the LHC experiments at CERN. In 2024, MUST can host up to 8000 simultaneous computing tasks, possède has 24 GPU cards and two storage infrastructures of nearly 300 terabytes for the University’s scientific data and 7 petabytes for LHC data.
Last year, thanks to the European FEDER fund from the Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region, the CNRS and the USMB, MUST further improved its level of availability with work to secure its electrical and cooling infrastructures ; MUST has also invested in cloud technology which allows to support IT training events, such as the Gray Scott Battle school on programming and optimization on heterogeneous architectures.
In the seek for energy sobriety, the CNRS and the University of Savoie Mont Blanc are working on an overall strategy to improve energy performance associated with an on-site photovoltaic solar power project, already initiated.
